Ruche's Inspiration: PainfullyHip

I wanted to start doing blog post features on my favorite style icons. This one is dedicated to Amber from PainfullyHip.

My BIGGEST inspirations are not fashion designers, but fashion bloggers. All you ladies out there have inspired me so much! In fact, without all of you, Ruche would not be what it is today. Even then, I still have so much more to learn and so many improvements I want to make on Ruche. I want to thank all of you for supporting and inspiring me!

My first inspiration was Amber from PainfullyHip. Before Ruche, I ran another online boutique. Amber was the first to discover it and blogged about it! She also introduced me to Wardrobe Remix, which I think is the GREATEST site ever! Amber is really a fashion icon. Her daily dose of fashion finds, editorial and street style photos definitely kept me hooked.

Ruche's Interview with PainfullyHip

> How did you get into blogging?
I was working at a sound studio in Vancouver attending to B list movie actors and was bored out of my mind 70% of the day. Blogging was something productive to do while I waited to get coffee for Jean Claude Van Damme. No joke.

> How would you describe your style of fashion?
Layers, mixed up proportions and lots of patterns. I have a tendency toward sixties and twenties styling with a quirky but modern edge

> Inspirations?
Louise Brooks, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Leslie Hall, MIA

> Current favorite outfit?
My newest one. I have a short attention span.

> Your favorite vintage find?
A tooled leather corset belt. Its completely amazing. Discovered on foxhuntvintage.com

> What is your favorite season to dress?
Summertime! Who loves short shorts? Guilty as charged.

> What do you think will be big for spring?
tapered, high-waisted trousers in bright colors.

> What recent trend have you been totally turned off by?
Fringe on everything. Fringe is cool, but only when used responsibly.

> What is in your purse?
I'm constantly carrying around a dizzying array of travel-sized products which I never use. Except for my Tide stain pen - I eat like a starving person at a casino buffet. Its a curse which makes wearing white very risky business.

> Things you can't live without?
My Benetint blush.

> What do you like to do in your spare time?
Anything I've never done.

Check out Amber in Ruche's purple ruffly tie pencil dress! I just loved how she paired up the dress with a black belt and bright red shoes. What a terrific combo.

Thanks again Amber!

Oh La La - Premium Denim for $40.00!

One of my resolutions for the New Year is to SPEND LESS. With the economy situation these days, everyone is on a budget. I really have to cut my habit of eating out and of course my shopping splurges. Ever since my first pair of Seven for all Mankind, I was hooked on buying premium jeans. The saying "once you start, you can't stop" is sOOO true!

But alas, Karyn from Alias Denim introduced me to her line of premium denim! I got myself a pair of premium denim jeans for only $40!! You can probably only get jeans for this price at Old Navy, but it is NOT half as nice, comfortable, and fitting as these jeans! There is only one wash at this time, but I'm sure they will be coming up with some new washes in the near future. Either way, dark denim is a must have! These jeans are super soft with a really nice wash. But I think the best part of it is the fit. I am a shorty with a flat butt and these fit really well because they lengthen my leg and give me a butt! Perfect!

I was reading Alias's about us and it is so similar to my vision for Ruche.
Alias: "We were tired of paying hundreds of dollars for premium denim. We loved the fit and style but didn't love what it was doing to our bank account. We tried less expensive jeans, but just couldn't find the right style and price combination....Look HOT without burning a hole in their jean pocket." I'm all for that!

Get them at aliasdenim.com for $40!.
